I had been out of videogames for a while when I was 17 (1997) and one day I saw Toys R Us taking pre-orders for an upcoming RPG called Final Fantasy VII. I hadn't really touched a Final Fantasy (more of a Crystalis/Startropics/Zelda kid), but I put down my deposit and got it on day one. The short story is I WAS BACK INTO VIDEOGAMES. The graphics were unparalleled. The story! The characters! The everything! And then the big curveball....
I shed tears. It's ok I did. Videogames shifted after FFVII and became a true new medium. This was art. This was a game to make you feel, make you listen, and make you make hard choices. Wow. You can tell all the feels come back just by this rambling. ANYWAYS, Cloud Strife holds a place in my heart and once I decided to start making prints post-retro area, this was a must have. Displayed prominently on my wall and hope it will be on yours too.
